##### Studies Number

This unit should be taught over a period of about 3-4 weeks. It will build on the work from pre-IB. The focus should be on using number: types of number (real, integers, fractions and associated symbols), rounding number and errors, percentages, and errors, standard form (scientific notation), and using a calculator.

##### Studies Straight Lines

This unit should be taught over a period of about 2 weeks. You will need to use your GDC for graphing. The unit covers gradients, mid-points and equations of straight lines.

##### Studies Trigonometry

This unit should be taught over a period of about 4 weeks. You will use right angled triangles to find missing angles and sides; using bearings and angles in right angled triangles; the sine, cosine and area formula in non-right angled triangles; 3d problems with trigonometry.

##### Studies Descriptive Statistics

This unit should be taught over a period of about 2-3 weeks. This unit will look at different types of data, graphical displays of data, cumulative frequency and box-and-whisker plots, averages and spreads of data.

##### Studies Algebra

This unit should be taught over a period of about 4-5 weeks. The unit will cover solving linear equations, building expressions, quadratic equations, quadratic curves and solving form a graphic calculator. The unit will continue to cover sequences (arithmetic and geometric), and then conclude with solving interest problems, both simple and compound interest.

##### Studies Logic

This unit should be taught over a period of about 2-3 weeks. It may be completely new to many on the course. You will build up logic statements using notation, and transfer these into truth tables to test statements.

##### Studies Statistical Applications

This unit should be taught over a period of about 3 weeks. This unit will use different stats and probability models. You will cover regression and correlation, using graphs and getting information from the graphic calculator. You will also cover distributions such as the normal and chi distributions. This unit may us often used in the IA project.

##### Studies Probability

This unit should be taught over a period of about 3 weeks. You will go through the basic notation of sets and Venn diagrams and start to build basic probability. The unit covers tree diagrams and conditional probability.

##### Studies Models

This unit should be taught over a period of about 3 weeks. You will cover the idea of a function, notation and using with graphs. You will then use various forms of modelling, including linear, quadratic, exponential and trigonometric models. This unit will make use of the graphic calculator.

##### Studies Differentiation

This unit should be taught over a period of about 3-4 weeks. You will learn how to differentiate and the uses of differentiation for finding gradients (and tangents and normals); maximum and minimum problems, and increasing and decreasing functions.
